About Us

The story of Road Noise. Developing the running vest with built in speakers.

Your Roadnoise Vest is sure to become your favorite running partner. Your Roadnoise Vest should hold up to all the rigors of running and provide enjoyment for many miles to come. While the speakers can take some pounding and are weather tolerant we don't suggest using it for full-contact or water sports.

ROADNOISE vests give you the ability to hear your footsteps, your breathing, and your surroundings along with your favorite music. There's nothing in your ears and no dangling cords to get in the way. Just plug in your device and you're off running.

SOUND: The lightweight speakers fit in the shoulders right below (not in) your ears. the full-range, high-power speakers are loud enough to provide great sound without being overpowering. The speakers are easily removable if necessary.
FIT: The fit of a ROADNOISE vest is important for the total enjoyment of your run. Each size has been designed and tested with larger sound devices such as smart phones that fit comfortably at the base of your rib cage. the speakers rest on the front of your shoulders.

Their love of running launched a business.

Shelley and Rob Stout love to run. A substantial collection of bibs and medals fill their otherwise orderly office. Training and running the Hood to Coast relay race is one their favorite ways to spend time together. At around 200 miles, the Hood-to-Coast is one of the longest and largest races in the world. Participants must wear a reflective vest at night. For safety reasons, ear buds were banned in 2010. As many runners will tell you, listening to music is a necessity for pleasure and motivation. You know that saying where a door closes, a window opens? The mandate against ear buds during the grueling relay created a wide opening for Rob to develop a way to safely listen to music while running.

The adventurous couple have backgrounds in advertising and graphic design. Problem-solving comes naturally to them. So, they put their heads together and created a light-weight reflective vest that allows runners to listen to music in a functional, safe and totally comfortable way. Avid outdoor enthusiasts, Rob and Shelley and their dog Buster are always up for a new adventure at home in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
